Interior Design: What to Expect in 2019
The start of a new year is a great time to refresh your home’s interior style. Nothing says ‘optimistic outlook’ quite like fresh paint on the walls. But, before you start re-decorating, get clued up on the interior trends set to be popular in 2019. Below are just some of the styles we’re expecting to be huge this year.
Floral prints always make a timeless choice, but they are set to be a staple pattern in 2019. Today Interiors Jaipur is one of our favourite wallpaper designs, with a stunning mix of blush and fuchsia tones. However, if you’re looking for a darker tone to suit a moody interior, Ralph Lauren’s Marlowe collection is ideal.
Floral upholstery will add a playful style to rooms with muted style, especially when combined with large plants in ornate vases or planters. If you’re not ready to take the plunge with floral walls or furniture, why not try brightly patterned cushions instead?
Rose Gold and Copper Accents
The ideal metallic finish for accents and accessories, rose gold and copper has become a great alternative to gold and silver. After becoming a top choice in 2018, this trend is set to continue throughout the coming year.
If you’re looking for a wall colour to match, Sanderson Rose Ash paint is a water-based emulsion that dries to an exceptionally matt finish with an exquisite milkshake pink colour. Or, try something different and pair rose gold accessories with deep-toned walls.
It’s no secret that wallpaper featuring the night sky makes the perfect backdrop for children’s rooms. But, in 2019, we’re set to see awe-inspiring constellation prints suitable for all ages. Barneby Gates’ All Star paper is embossed with gun-metal gold stars, which would make a stunning feature in a loft room.
Warm Golden Walls
Perfect for all year round, warm amber shades are going to be big this year. Sanderson’s Golden Honey paint has a luxurious formula with a choice of finishes in a glowing honey colour. It can be used to create a whole range of looks, depending on the palette you combine it with. Pair it with golden accessories to create a warm ambience in any room.
Bold Accent Walls
A design favourite for many homeowners, statement walls won’t be going anywhere any time soon. However, you can expect them to become bolder and more pronounced as the year goes on.
In 2018, 87% of those completed our Interior Design Taste Survey loved rich, deeply pigmented paints. This year, coral shades are expected to be huge, offering a bold and bright pop of colour in bedrooms and living rooms.
If you’re considering experimenting with an accent wall in your home, give Fired Earth Festival Orange or Zoffany Velvet Blue Paint a try. They’re bold enough to be striking but have a mellowing depth that makes them suitable for any style of home.
Shades of Grey
In contrast to the more eccentric patterns popularised in 2018 like tropical prints, a grey palette will continue to be a popular choice in 2019. In fact, some interior experts are predicting minimalism to make a big return.
Dulux Heritage’s Beachcomb Grey is the ultimate pale, cool-toned grey. It has a low sheen matte finish which minimises imperfections and adds a contemporary look to your home. If you’d prefer a warmer shade, Zoffany Double Paris Grey paint has beige undertones, perfect for brightening up north-facing rooms.
If you’re decorating your home in 2019, why not try something different? Whether you want a modern aesthetic or something a little more traditional, Chapel Interiors has a range of designer paints and wallpapers to suit your needs.
